As a non-profit organization, ZIS relies on fundraising for educational enhancements and to create our unique "ZIS Experience."
- The Annual Fund has an immediate impact – by funding programs and improvements, in that same year, that go above and beyond what tuition provides.
- Hundreds of ZIS parents, faculty and staff, and alumni contribute an average yearly total of CHF 200,000 to the Annual Fund.
- On each campus, principals – with the input of teachers and parents – select projects for Annual Fund support that will directly benefit teaching and learning.
- Over the years, these projects have included: guest speakers, special training opportunities for students and faculty, technology, musical instruments, athletic and playground equipment, seed money for new initiatives, and other important investments.
Some of the reasons that ZIS families contribute to the Annual Fund include:
Making a real difference for students. “Thank you for changing my life!” exclaimed a student recently, who discovered his passion and career path through the Upper School recording studio, a previous year’s Annual Fund project. The experiences made possible through the Annual Fund touch students and faculty, sometimes in ways more deep and lasting than can be foreseen.
Showing philanthropic participation. Whether contributing CHF 50, 100 or more, a single donation can motivate others. Corporate funders favor institutions that are supported by their members. Over the years, ZIS community participation has leveraged corporate contributions toward innovative programs and capital campaigns (see right).
Annual Fund donations are tax-deductible. Swiss tax payers receive a receipt for their tax returns, while U.S. tax payers’ dollar donations are tax-deductible through the ZIS Foundation, Inc.
