Upper School (ages 14-18)
ZIS provides the challenge and support to ensure you become your best self and reach your potential, whatever your interest or passion.
At ZIS, we see each student as an individual, with their own unique interests, strengths and capabilities. You create your own academic program at ZIS to suit your passions, abilities and ambitions, building on a solid foundation of core subjects.
Courses in Grades 9 and 10 are developed by our teachers and aligned with international benchmarks. In Grades 11 and 12 our extensive offerings means you can choose from:

Our purpose-built Upper School provides the facilities and resources allowing you to explore your subjects through practical activities with real-world focus, and to participate in sports, arts, music, languages and other pursuits.
We have a range of flexible spaces which promote collaborative and independent learning.

You can pursue your interests or discover something that might become a lifelong passion through our extensive co-curricular program. With more than 60 different activities including academics, service learning, STEM, performing arts, recreational and competitive athletics, there's something for everyone.
ZIS experiences and activities are designed to prepare students for real-world challenges, whether that’s learning to debate and discuss, exploring more sustainable living, or helping others in the local and global community.
University and Careers
98% of ZIS graduates go on to attend a three or four year university degree course in Switzerland or internationally and the University and Career Counselors work to guide you and your parents through the application process.
We will guide you to find the pathway that best fits your abilities, interests and ambitions. So, whether you're planning for university, a gap year, or military service, our counselors offer individualized academic planning and support.
Work Experience
Every year, dozens of ZIS students gain real-world experience through our successful internship program
Grade 11 students are giving training in CV and letter writing and interview skills and then have the opportunity to apply for an unpaid summer internship at a variety of companies and organizations in Switzerland
