Past Fundraising

As a non-profit school, ZIS has no shareholders and all income is devoted to education. Through the charitable donations of parents, alumni, staff and partner companies, new learning experiences and resources are made possible for the ZIS community.

Annual Fund

The ZIS Annual Fund has formally been in place since 2001. Did you know:

  • Hundreds of ZIS parents, faculty and staff, and alumni contribute an annual average of CHF 200,000 to the Annual Fund.
  • In the 2020/21 year, Annual Fund donations supported budgets for school priorities: STEM learning and sustainability learning.
  • In previous years, principals on each campus – with the input of teachers and parents – selected projects for Annual Fund support that benefit teaching and learning.
  • You can see videos below for examples of these Annual Fund projects.

Why do ZIS families contribute to the Annual Fund?

Making a real difference for students. “Thank you for changing my life!” exclaimed a student, who discovered his passion and career path through the Upper School recording studio, a previous year’s Annual Fund project.

ZIS is a non-profit charitable institution. The school has no shareholders and all income is devoted to education. Many learning opportunities are possible only through the support of generous contributors.

Showing philanthropic participation. Whether contributing CHF 50, 500 or more, a single donation can motivate others. Corporate funders favor institutions that are supported by their members.

Annual Fund donations are tax-deductible. Swiss tax payers receive a receipt for their tax returns, while US tax payers’ dollar donations are tax-deductible through the ZIS Foundation, Inc.

Capital Campaign

The Campaign for Building for International Education concluded on June 30, 2008, having raised over CHF 10.6 million. The Campaign was the first broad-based fundraising effort conducted by ZIS. It received support from across the ZIS community: primary corporate sponsors, parents,Trustees, faculty and staff, alumni, grandparents, past parents, friends, corporations, Swiss foundations, and
students.

The Campaign for Building for International Education was part of the school’s strategic plan to meet these goals through
(i) construct ing a new Upper School,
(ii) creating a permanent home for the Middle School in the current Upper School Villa,
(iii) developing all-school facilities, such as a triple gym, sports fields, and multi-purpose performance space, and
(iv) ensuring ongoing enhancement of curricular and extracurricular programs.

ZIS is currently engaged in the Campaign for ZIS Building the Future of Learning, a campaign to support the construction of a new Middle and Upper School Campus. The new campus is on track to open for the 2022/23 school year.
