Admissions Process

To start your application, fill in the online application form, enter your payment details, and send it to us.

Apply to ZIS

• You will need to create an account. If you have already submitted an Inquiry Form, please use the same login.
• Have you applied to ZIS before, or are you returning to the school? Please contact our Enrollment Team to re-open your file.
• Our application fee is CHF 500 per child (plus credit card fees). This fee is non-refundable, and does not guarantee admission.

To help us understand your child’s potential as a ZIS student, we need the following documents:

All Applicants:

• A general teacher recommendation form
• A copy of the photo page of your child's passport

Applicants for Early Childhood, Grades 1-8:

• The most recent report card or end of year report for your child.
• Children in Preschool and Kindergarten, only need to send if available
• An English teacher recommendation form, if in Grades 6 through 8

Applicants for Grade 9-12:

• The most recent report cards and/or end of year report cards from the last two years
• An English teacher recommendation form

• A Mathematics teacher recommendation form

To make it easy, the teacher recommendation forms are on the checklist you received after sending in your application form and fee. All documents must be in English, or accompanied by an English translation.

ZIS embraces and plans for learner variability. We hold closely to our belief that diversity in all its forms enriches our community and as such have invested significantly in our support services teams and whole school approach.  We aim to work in partnership with parents, sharing information openly and listening to the story of your child and your hopes and dreams for them. 

As part of this partnership, we need to know about each child’s learning profile.  If your child has a neurodiverse profile, learning difference, physical or medical condition, or social emotional need, or receives additional supports at school or other therapies, we will need additional information.  

All information is handled confidentially, and only used to ensure that we know your child and can plan for their services and therefore their success here. Please be advised that we will ask for recent diagnostic reports (within the last three years) and the student’s latest Individual Education Plan (IEP) or learning plan from their current school. The reports must be submitted in full,and in English and sometimes additional documentation will be requested when the file is under review by our Director of Inclusion and Challenge.

Once your form and documents have been received, our Academic Review Team will evaluate your application. If your child’s application is being reviewed by our support services team, please keep in mind that it may take longer for us to process the application.  We value neurodiversity and want to have the best plan of support in place and ready for you when your child joins our school. We will try to get back to you within ten working days of receiving your files.

We do not usually require a face-to-face meeting with the applicant. However, in some cases, a meeting, either virtual or in person may become part of the process to begin our partnership and answer any questions that are better addressed face to face. 

Once your application review is completed:

• Our Enrollment Team will contact you and offer your child a place, if there is one available
• We will email you a Confirmation of Acceptance (upon payment of the full, non-refundable infrastructure contribution fee)
• If no places are available, your child will be placed in the "waiting pool" and we will contact you as soon as a space opens up.

We may require your child to complete some subject-related tests after acceptance, to make sure they are placed at the right level of a course.

Applications are approved once all  documentation is provided and the application fee.
