Admissions Process

To start your application, fill in the online application form, enter your payment details, and send it to us.

Apply to ZIS

• You will need to create an account. If you have already submitted an Inquiry Form, please use the same login.
• Have you applied to ZIS before, or are you returning to the school? Please contact our Admissions team to re-open your file.
• Our application fee is CHF 500 per child (plus credit card fees). This fee is non-refundable, and does not guarantee admission.

To help us understand your child’s potential as a ZIS student, we need the following documents:

All Applicants:

• A general teacher recommendation form
• A copy of the photo page of your child's passport

Lower or Middle School Applicants:

• The most recent report card or end of year report for your child.
• Children in Preschool and Kindergarten, only need to send if available
• An English teacher recommendation form, if in Grades 6 through 8

Upper School Applicants:

• The most recent report cards and/or end of year report cards from the last two years
• An English teacher recommendation form

• A Mathematics teacher recommendation form

To make it easy, the teacher recommendation forms are on the checklist you received after sending in your application form and fee.

All documents must be in English, or accompanied by an English translation.

If your child has a diagnosis (diagnosed learning difference, physical or medical disability, language disorder, mental health disorder, etc.), receives additional learning support or other therapy, we will need additional information to best meet your child’s needs. Please be advised that we will ask for recent diagnostic reports and the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) from their current school. The reports must be submitted in full and in English and sometimes additional documentation will be requested. The diagnostic reports should be within the last three years and the IEP should be current. If the child’s diagnostic report is older, we will ask for a reevaluation before considering admittance. This helps us accurately review the file and determine how we can best support your child. As part of our partnership with families, we expect full transparency. We reserve the right to offer a conditional place pending receipt of all required documents.

Once your form and documents have been received, our Academic Review Team will evaluate your application. If your child has a diagnosis (diagnosed learning difference, physical or medical disability, language disorder, mental health disorder, etc.) or receives additional learning support or other therapy, please keep in mind that it may take longer for us to process the application.  We value neurodiversity and want to have an appropriate plan of support in place when your child joins our school. We will try to get back to you within ten working days of receiving your files.

We do not usually require a face-to-face meeting with the applicant. However, in some cases, your child may be asked to discuss their application in more detail with the Principal, either in-person or via a phone call.

If your files are approved:

• Our Admissions Team will contact you and offer your child a place, if there is one available
• We will email you a Confirmation of Acceptance (upon payment of the full, non-refundable infrastructure contribution fee

• If no places are available, your child will be placed in the "waiting pool" and we will contact you as soon as a space opens up.

We may require your child to complete some subject-related tests after acceptance, to make sure they are placed at the right level of a course.

We will only approve applications if all requested documentation is provided and our application fee is paid.
