How will students store and share their work?

• Students will use their school-provided Google Workspace account to store, share, and collaborate on documents. This cloud-based system allows access from any internet-connected device.

How will access to applications be ensured for all students?

• Most ZIS applications are cloud-based, ensuring seamless access on all approved devices. Teachers will support students in setting up their devices for classroom use, including guidance on installing any required specialized software.

What happens if a student forgets their device?

• Loan laptops are available at the IT Helpdesk for such situations, however, continual forgetfulness will not be accommodated.

How will students print?

• Students can print from their devices using the school's updated printing system. We are in the process of migrating to a cloud-based solution to enhance accessibility and ease of use.

Students can use a device they are most familiar with, enhancing both productivity through personalized learning and minimizing disruptions, such as returning laptops between school breaks.

Familiarity with a personal device is especially advantageous with the introduction of online testing for SAT, AP, and IB exams.

Additionally, BYOD supports a smoother transition for students new to or leaving the school.

This approach also enables better allocation of IT resources, helping to manage the growing costs of infrastructure, security, and licensing.

ZIS will continue to provide technical support for students who have issues accessing school approved content and applications.

We are doing this since the 2023-24 academic year on over 250 student-owned laptops.

Students will have access to the internet at school through a specially configured, secure connection.

Our school network provides a highly secure environment for technology use.

Students are strongly encouraged to acquire an additional charger to be kept in their locker or backpack.

Students can use their school-provided Google Apps account to save and share documents.

The school has a Responsible Use Policy for use of devices both in and out of the classroom. This policy should be followed by students and reinforced at home.

Loan laptops will be available at the IT Helpdesk, but only for emergency situations and not to accommodate continual forgetfulness of the personal device.

When any device is connected to the school network, internet activity is logged and content is filtered. We are also investigating classroom management software. 

There will be no monitoring of student-owned laptops at home.

Misuse of the internet or network will result in penalties according to the policies laid out in the student handbook.

Additional features have been added to existing print systems that will allow student-owned devices to connect to school printers.
